As an independent charter school, Palisades has its own Board of Trustees. The Board of Trustees (the “Board”) is composed of representatives of each of PCHS stakeholder groups. Its mandate is to implement the School’s guiding mission as articulated in the charter. In order to do so, the Board of Trustees is empowered to operate as the principal decision-making body with regard to school-wide policies. The governance structure is designed to foster participation by all stakeholders and to assure the effectiveness of local school control and accountability. As part of the School’s mission, it is vital that students witness and participate in the School’s collaborative process of policy development and decision-making. The Board of Trustees’ major roles and responsibilities includes approving all major educational and operational policies, approving all major contracts, approving the annual budget, and ensuring that articulated school outcomes are achieved. The Board of Trustees is accountable to the chartering agency for the School’s overall performance in attaining its goals, as set forth in its charter.
The Board meets on the 3rd Tuesday of every month (start times vary). All agendas for regular monthly meetings are publicly noticed on PCHS’ website, palihigh.org, under the Board of Trustees section, outside the Library, and in the Main Office 72 hours in advance of the meeting. The Meeting Minutes are posted following their approval at the subsequent month’s meeting both online and in the Main Office. People wishing to comment on a specific agenda item or a general issue can fill out speaker cards at the meeting. A maximum of eight speakers per item will each be granted two minutes to speak. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend any and all Board meetings.
